Fixed (positive) choke
API 6A / company wellhead legend
Drawn as
An angle body (inlet triangle from the side, outlet triangle below) with a plain cap on top instead of a handwheel, and an orifice (a split bar) across the outlet.
Meaning
Wellhead or manifold choke with a fixed-size bean (orifice). Changing rate means changing the bean, so there is no handwheel. Sits on the christmas-tree wing outlet.
Variants
- Some legends draw a bow-tie with "CH" or a bean (small black rectangle) inside
- Bean size is written as a fraction of an inch in 64ths, e.g. 32/64"
