Axial / propeller fan
ISO 10628-2 (groups 16, 17 and 20, compressors, blowers, engines) / PIP PIC001 (group 17)
Drawn as
A two-blade propeller (two teardrop or figure-8 lobes) on the end of a shaft line, often drawn on top of a motor circle, or a propeller inside a circle or duct outline.
Meaning
Axial-flow or propeller fan: motor-driven cooling and ventilation fans, HVAC extract, cooler fans. No dedicated component: air-cooled-exchanger and the E-house and analyser-shelter HVAC include their own fans, and centrifugal-fan is the closest standalone fan.
Variants
- Look-alike: a spectacle blind is a figure-8 at a flange pair on a pipe, not on a motor shaft
- A propeller inside a short duct section is a duct (tube-axial) fan
