Three-phase separator (with boot and weir)
ISO 10628-2 (groups 1-2, vessels, tanks and columns) / PIP PIC001
Drawn as
A horizontal vessel with a small vertical boot under it (a short rectangle), and an upright weir plate inside towards the outlet end. Separate oil and water outlets.
Meaning
Oil/gas/water separator: HP and LP production separators, test separators. Water settles into the boot or before the weir, and oil spills over the weir into the oil bucket. Becomes horizontal-separator with service 3-phase.
Variants
- Some have no boot: interface level is held with a weir and separate oil and water outlets
- Bucket-and-weir layouts show two plates
- Inlet device, mesh pad and vortex breakers may also be drawn
