Tie-in point P&ID symbol

Tie-in point

PIP PIC001 / ISO 10628-1 (diagram rules) / company legend practice
Drawn as
A bar across the line where new pipe joins existing pipe, with a leader to a hexagon or flag holding the tie-in number (e.g. TP-01).
Meaning
Where new work connects to existing plant (hot-tap, cold cut, or flange break). In plant.json a tie-in is a battery limit: end the line with { at, label: "TIE-IN TP-01" }; it renders as a blinded end with a yellow band.
Variants
  • Tie-in marks vary: hexagon, flag, circle with TI, or a diamond
  • Hot taps are often noted "HT"
