Condenser
ISO 10628-2 (groups 3-5, heat exchangers, furnaces, cooling towers) / PIP PIC001 / TEMA
Drawn as
A shell-and-tube exchanger with a large vapour inlet on top, a small condensate outlet (often from a boot or hotwell) underneath, and cooling medium through the tube side.
Meaning
Shell-side condenser: overhead condensers, regeneration still condensers. Same hardware as a shell-and-tube unit, so map it to shell-and-tube-exchanger (or air-cooled-exchanger if drawn with a fan).
Variants
- ISO 10628-2 uses the general exchanger symbol for condensers
- Air-cooled condensers are drawn as an air cooler
